Sunday, November 8 | 3pm | Harvester Performance Center | Download Flyer
As a part of an interdisciplinary "Week of Remembrance and Promise," Ferrum College will partner with Mike Wiley Productions, the Harvester Performance Center, and local citizens to bring "DAR HE: The Story of Emmett Till" to Franklin County. "DAR HE: The Story of Emmett Till" is a remarkable one man show performed by Roanoke native Mike Wiley, who holds an MFA from UNC Chapel Hill and teaches drama in university and community settings. In this performance, Wiley gives life to all the voices involved in this story about a 14 year old young man from Chicago who went to Mississippi in 1955 to get away from the harshness of summer in the city, only to fall victim to class and race lines that were never to be crossed in the south. He did not make it out of Mississippi alive, and when his broken body returned to Chicago, his mother decided to share his story with the world. Mike Wiley now does the same, 60 years later.
This performance is FREE to the community, but please register here to make sure we do not exceed capacity.
